About This Role

The Sr. Supervisor, Manufacturing Maintenance provides day-to-day leadership and technical oversight for equipment and utility maintenance activities at Biogen’s RTP Bio Site. This role develops and executes maintenance strategies that ensure equipment reliability and uptime while maintaining full compliance with Quality, Safety, and cGMP requirements. Acting as a maintenance subject matter expert (SME), this position supports manufacturing operations through effective team leadership, vendor oversight, reliability engineering, and continuous improvement of maintenance systems and processes.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide daily direction, guidance, and technical support to the process maintenance team to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient operations
  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies to optimize equipment reliability, lifecycle management, and spare parts availability
  • Serve as maintenance SME for capital projects, including definition, review, and approval of spare parts, maintainability, and design considerations
  • Manage outsourced vendors and contractors, including onboarding, training, and performance oversight
  • Review, approve, and close maintenance work orders within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
  • Recommend and implement improvements to CMMS processes to optimize labor utilization, preventive maintenance, work order closeout, and spare parts management
  • Track, analyze, and report department compliance metrics related to work order performance, safety adherence, and GMP compliance
  • Support and document investigations, CAPAs, deviations, and quality processes, including TrackWise documentation
  • Provide audit readiness support and documentation for internal and external inspections
  • Assist with training, mentoring, and development of junior technicians while promoting a strong safety and quality culture

Who You Are

You are a hands-on, technically strong maintenance leader with deep experience in biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments. You are detail-oriented, safety-focused, and effective at influencing cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and compliant maintenance outcomes.

Required Skills

  • Combination of the below education and direct experience:
    • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline with a minimum of 3 years of direct, related experience
    • Associate’s degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 5 years of direct, related experience
    • High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years of direct, related experience
  • At minimum, 2 years of lead, leadership, management, or project management experience
  • Experience providing technical lead, leadership, or supervision in a manufacturing maintenance organization
  • Demonstrated maintenance or engineering experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments
  • Working knowledge of cGMP requirements
  • Experience supporting maintenance programs for process equipment and utilities
  • Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), work order management, and preventive maintenance programs
  • Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Skills

  • Background in equipment reliability engineering, spare parts optimization, and end-of-life planning
  • Experience supporting capital projects as a maintenance SME
  • Vendor and contractor management experience in regulated manufacturing environments
  • Experience supporting audits and regulatory inspections
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to recommend and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Familiarity with stage-gate project acceptance processes and development of maintenance procedures and PMs

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $93,000.00-$121,000.00


Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.
