Job Description Summary

We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Expert in Science & Technology to join our Process Analytical Sciences (PAS) Laboratory within TRD. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in analytical sciences, digital innovation, lab automation and continuous improvement. You will contribute to implementation and automation of analytical methods, digital lab initiatives and support biopharmaceutical process development in a dynamic, collaborative lab environment.

Job Description

  • Design, plan, execute, interpret, and document analytical experiments for biopharmaceutical process development samples in line with internal quality standards and HSE requirements.
  • Independently support the implementation and transfer of analytical methods for innovative late-phase products.
  • Maintain and qualify analytical equipment, manage laboratory operations, ensure DQP qualification status, and investigate unexpected experimental results through troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Operate automated liquid handling systems, such as Tecan or Hamilton, and analytical instruments, such as HPLC or CE; program and maintain automated analytical workflows and digital data processes.
  • Collaborate with method experts, analytical experts, and cross-functional teams to ensure smooth execution of analytical workflows.
  • Implement and optimize digital processes in daily laboratory work, apply digital tools and automation solutions to improve lab efficiency.
  • Share know-how across the organization and with other departments by providing on-site training to associates.
  • Contribute to a highly innovative and motivated team with flat hierarchies, using strong networking skills to collaborate across boundaries.
  • Bring forward ideas and improvement proposals, stay curious, think boldly, and inspire others.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements

  • Master of Science with at least 1 year of relevant experience, Bachelor of Science with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or an industry apprenticeship or equivalent technical education with at least 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of analytical method principles, particularly separation techniques such as (U)HPLC and CE, with practical experience using analytical instrumentation.
  • Strong interest in digital approaches and innovative technologies, including laboratory automation.
  • Flexible, pragmatic, and goal-oriented working style, combined with a scientific mindset.
  • Fluency in German and English for effective collaboration and documentation.

Desirable Requirements

  • Can-do mindset, adaptability to change, and strong communication skills across organizational interfaces.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams within a matrix environment.
  • Experience with laboratory data management systems, such as LIMS, and digital processes.
  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of non-separation methods and/or process impurity analyses, such as protein content determination, immunoassays, and small-scale protein purification.
  • Experience programming and operating automated liquid handling systems, such as Tecan or Hamilton.
  • Programming skills in Python, C, C++, C#, and MS Visual Basic to support digital processes and interfaces.
