Location: Cambridge, MA

Reporting to: Chief of Staff to Chief Medical Officer

At Hemab, we are developing targeted therapies that reimagine the treatment of blood coagulation disorders to sustain life and human resilience. We are guided by our philosophy that “All Patients Matter” and by the conviction that individuals living with serious bleeding disorders should not have to live with inadequate treatment options. We are a patient-first, science-led, clinical-stage company, recently public following our 2026 IPO and scaling across Cambridge, MA and Copenhagen, DK.

At Hemab, data drives decisions, and consistent with this value system, our current VP Biometrics is transitioning to a role as the CMO Chief of Staff. As incoming VP Biometrics, you will report to the CMO Chief of Staff, and be a part of the CMO Clinical Research Leadership Team.

As Vice President, Biometrics, you will lead the quantitative disciplines that turn Hemab’s clinical science into clear, credible evidence and better development decisions. You will own Biostatistics, Statistical Programming and Data Science across the portfolio, ensuring the evidence we generate can support our programs, regulatory strategy and, ultimately, patients.

This is a build role for a leader who wants to strengthen an existing foundation, create the capabilities Hemab will need as our pipeline advances, and set portfolio-level strategy while staying close enough to the science to challenge assumptions and solve difficult development questions.

What You’ll Do At Hemab

  • Set and own Hemab’s Biometrics strategy across the portfolio, ensuring our statistical and data approaches answer the questions that matter for patients, development, regulatory approval and program value.
  • Shape clinical development from early stage through registration, bringing statistical judgement to trial design, endpoints, estimands, evidence generation and benefit-risk decisions.
  • Lead statistical strategy for clinical development, finding rigorous, pragmatic approaches where small patient populations make conventional development paths difficult.
  • Serve as Hemab’s senior statistical voice with health authorities, shaping regulatory interactions and submissions and representing our evidence clearly when assumptions or conclusions are challenged.
  • Lead and grow Biostatistics, Statistical Programming, and Data Science, building the capabilities and accountabilities Hemab needs as its portfolio scales.
  • Strengthen portfolio decision-making, helping teams distinguish signal from noise, understand uncertainty and make timely decisions grounded in the totality of evidence.
  • Partner across Clinical Development, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Pharmacology and Medical Affairs, bringing an independent quantitative perspective while building shared ownership of decisions.
  • Advance quantitative science at Hemab, including adaptive and Bayesian methods, modeling, simulation and emerging data-science approaches where they can meaningfully improve development decisions.
  • Actively shape how Hemab evaluates and adopts new technologies, including AI, setting the standard for where these tools can responsibly strengthen trial design, analysis and evidence generation, and building the function's fluency in using them well.
  • Develop and embed the processes and ways of working for Hemab Biometrics as Hemab scales — from study start-up through analysis and database lock to submission-ready deliverables — so the function runs efficiently, consistently and predictably across a growing portfolio.
  • Create frameworks for statistical rigor, data quality and regulatory readiness, including effective oversight of CROs and specialist partners, with structure that enables speed and trust.

Who You Are and What You’ll Bring to Hemab

Essential:

  • PhD in Statistics/Biostatistics with 12+ years pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience, OR Master's degree in Statistics/Biostatistics with 15+ years pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience
  • Significant leadership experience in Biostatistics/Biometrics within biotech or pharmaceutical clinical development, with accountability across multiple development programs.
  • Deep statistical expertise and a track record of shaping clinical development strategy, not simply executing analyses.
  • Experience across multiple stages of clinical development, including late-stage development and regulatory submissions.
  • Direct experience developing statistical strategy for and engaging with major health authorities.
  • Experience leading teams and multidisciplinary Biometrics capabilities, with meaningful oversight across Biostatistics, Statistical Programming, and Data Science.
  • The ability to turn complex statistical evidence into clear, decision-useful recommendations for clinical teams, senior leaders and non-statistical audiences.
  • An excellent communicator and influencer, attuned to the needs of stakeholders across the organization, and who can influence effectively.

Nice to have:

  • Rare-disease, hematology or coagulation development experience.
  • Experience designing studies for small patient populations where conventional approaches may not be sufficient.
  • Deep experience with adaptive designs, Bayesian methods, modeling and simulation.
  • Experience scaling Biometrics capabilities in a growing clinical-stage biotech.

How you work matters here: You solve the problem when you hit the first wall rather than passing it on, you take charge, ask for help with humility, carry no ego and partner across disciplines. At Hemab, mindset and fit weigh as heavily as pedigree - good structure exists to enable speed, quality and trust, not slow anyone down.

How we treat our people is an extension of how we think about patients: with care, respect and a long-term view. We aim to make your candidate experience respectful, transparent and human, bringing the same care to hiring that we bring to patients.
