About the Company
Magenta Medical is a Class III medical device company developing the world's smallest and most powerful heart pump. As we scale towards commercial manufacturing, we are looking for an experienced engineer to take end-to-end ownership of a core product component, from development through production.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for engineers who have been deeply involved in complex product development and are ready to lead critical processes in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of a key product component/system – from design maturity through manufacturing scale-up
- Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including transfer from R&D to production
- Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and continuous process improvements
- Develop and implement production processes, tools, fixtures, and equipment
- Lead engineering activities cross-functionally – working closely with R&D, Operations, Quality, and suppliers
- Own technical problem-solving on the production floor, including deep root cause analysis
- Lead validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ) and ensure compliance with medical device standards
- Initiate and lead engineering changes (ECOs) with strong system-level understanding
- Work closely with external vendors and subcontractors to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions
Qualifications
- B.Sc. in Mechanical / Biomedical / Materials Engineering
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in complex product development
- Background in medical device startups – strong advantage
- Experience from robotics / highly mechanical systems – significant advantage
Required Skills
- Proven experience taking part in (or leading) the development of complex multidisciplinary products
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to lead a domain/component end-to-end
- Experience with NPI, DFM, and transition to manufacturing
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production environments
- Experience working with suppliers and external manufacturers
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (PDM – advantage)
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and project-level responsibility
