About the Company

Magenta Medical is a Class III medical device company developing the world's smallest and most powerful heart pump. As we scale towards commercial manufacturing, we are looking for an experienced engineer to take end-to-end ownership of a core product component, from development through production.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, high-impact role for engineers who have been deeply involved in complex product development and are ready to lead critical processes in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of a key product component/system — from design maturity through manufacturing scale-up.
  • Lead New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, including transfer from R&D to production.
  • Lead day-to-day engineering execution in a dynamic startup environment where flexibility, initiative, and end-to-end ownership are essential
  • Drive Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and continuous process improvements
  • Develop and implement production processes, tools, fixtures, and equipment
  • Lead cross-functional engineering activities while working closely with R&D, Operations, Quality, Manufacturing, and suppliers
  • Own technical problem-solving on the production floor, including deep root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions
  • Manage technical interfaces with external vendors, subcontractors, laboratories, and manufacturing partners.
  • Initiate and lead engineering changes (ECOs) with a strong system-level understanding
  • Support hands-on production, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and engineering builds as needed.
  • Ensure scalable, high-quality manufacturing solutions throughout the product lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering / Biomedical Engineering.
  • 3- 5 years of hands-on experience in complex product development.
  • Experience in startups - a strong advantage.
  • Experience with robotics or highly mechanical systems - a significant advantage.
  • Proven experience participating in or leading the development of complex multidisciplinary products.
  • Hands-on engineering approach with the ability to execute independently across. development and manufacturing activities.
  • Experience with NPI, DFM, and transition to manufacturing.
  • Experience working with suppliers, subcontractors, and external manufacturers.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks (PDM — advantage).
  • Experience working with project management and task tracking systems such as Monday.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, analytical thinking, and project-level responsibility.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with changing priorities and broad responsibilities.
