RA Capital Management is seeking a highly qualified and analytically strong Corporate Accountant to join its Management Company accounting team.
This role is designed for an accounting professional with 3–5 years of relevant experience who has demonstrated the ability to assume ownership of accounting processes and analytical workstreams, apply sound accounting judgment, and operate effectively with limited supervision. The role is execution-oriented and requires strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and comfort managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. The Accountant will report directly to the Director of Corporate Finance and play a key role in supporting the accounting and financial operations of RA Capital’s management company. This position will focus on core accounting functions, financial reporting, and operational support, while partnering closely with internal teams to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain internal accounting records for the management company in accordance with US GAAP
- Manage and oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment execution, collections, and reconciliations
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis
- Prepare and review financial statements and internal reporting packages for management
- Partner with external auditors and support year-end audits and tax filings
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking across the management company
- Support financial reporting efforts, including internal management reporting, expense allocations, and ad hoc analyses
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Investor Relations, Compliance, and Operations to ensure accurate and timely financial data flow
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance controls, and increase efficiency across accounting operations
- Leverage technology and automation, including AI tools, to streamline workflows and improve reporting accuracy
- Support special projects and strategic initiatives as needed
Key Requirements
- 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably with a CPA (or progress toward CPA)
- Experience in accounting within an asset management firm or management company environment, required
- Prior experience in a Big 4 or large public accounting firm preferred
- Required: hands-on experience with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
- Strong understanding of US GAAP and financial reporting principles
- Experience with audits and tax processes
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and organization
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work cross-functionally
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong process orientation with a focus on continuous improvement
- Experience with accounting systems and financial tools (experience with Netsuite, Quickbooks)

RA Capital Management is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. Pay for this position will be based on experience, skills, qualifications, and current market conditions.
